The Inspiration Behind Southern Whispers | Greenbrier, TN

A Childhood in Bloom Long before Southern Whispers was a studio in Greenbrier, Tennessee, it was a feeling on a back porch in Georgia. My scent memory wasn’t formed by perfumes, but by the vivid, contrasting aromas of a Southern childhood.

The Smoke and the Soil Growing up, life had a rugged, smoky soul. I remember the steady, dry warmth of the wood-burning stove inside and the savory, slow drift of the pit BBQ in the yard. I remember the crackle of bonfires under wide Georgia skies and the rhythmic clink-clink-clink of Mason jars as my family canned the garden’s harvest. These were the scents of grit, hard work, and hospitality.

The Garden Whispers But as the sun went down, the "whispers" began. My parents’ garden was a living tapestry of fragrance that balanced the smoke. I grew up surrounded by the intoxicating perfume of Gardenias, the classic elegance of Roses, and the creamy freshness of Magnolias. I remember the hidden sweetness of Tea Olives and the magic of Night-Blooming Jasmine—a flower that stayed quiet all day only to release its soul once the world got still.

The Southern Whispers Philosophy I founded Southern Whispers to bring these two worlds together. My candles are the bridge between the smoke and the petals.

We use the Mason jar as a nod to that canning heritage—taking something beautiful and preserving it to share with others. We use FSC-certified wood wicks to mimic the crackle of those backyard bonfires. Every pour is a piece of my story, from the red clay of Georgia to the rolling hills of Tennessee, captured in wax and whispered softly into your home.
